September is just around the corner and whilst we’re still being blessed with some sunny days, cooler temperatures and rainier days are undoubtedly on the horizon. But that doesn’t mean you have to banish your favourite summer dress to the back of your wardrobe – there’s mileage in it yet! You just need to know the tricks of the transition-season trade…

1. Go for long sleeves…

If your summer dress is well equipped with long sleeves, then half the battle is already won! In this case, simply slip on a light blazer (tailoring is going to be big this season) and some socks and you’re good to go.

2. Tie up a T-shirt…

A cool way to give your strappy midi a new-season update is to wear it with a T-shirt on top. Tie your tee in a knot at the front to give the silhouette some shape, pair with chunky boots that match the androgynous style and add a glossy jacket for rainy days.

3. Layer on top…

Throwing on a jumper and a denim jacket is a quick and easy way to take your floaty floral number from height of summer to September and beyond! Playing with light neutral shades will prevent your outfit from looking to heavy or wintery.

4. Switch up the shape…

Just like adding a T-shirt, wearing a blouse over your mini dress is a fresh way to mix up the shape and vibe of your look.  Wear this outfit to the office and, if post-work evening plans are on the cards, pair with sleek knee-high boots and a light shacket.

5. Add a thin knit…

We’ve already discussed jumpers on top, but how about wearing one underneath? A knitted ribbed top in a staple shade is a chic way to add another layer to your dress without hiding any of that pretty summer print. Win, Win!
