Without further ado, here’s where you can have the best summer holiday ever…

The Costas in Spain have been a hit with holidaymakers for decades, and the region is just as popular now as it was 30 years ago. Costa Dorada in particular boasts all the credentials for a great summer holiday, with attractions for families, couples and culture vultures alike. There’s a long sandy beach in Salou backed by a bustling promenade, shops and restaurants. Plus, the huge PortAventura theme park is right next door, and there’s Aquopolis waterpark and Bonavista market where shoppers can snap up some bargains. Barcelona is within day-tripping distance too, so you can explore the historic sights, like Gaudi’s legendary Sagrada Familia, and do a tapas tour of Las Ramblas.

Over summer, there are plenty of events and festivals going on in this region. You’ve got the Feast of Saint Peter at the end of June where locals parade through town and put on special open-air concerts. In August there’s the week-long Golden Nights in Salou event, which includes local entertainment, traditional folklore shows and fireworks. And, Festa Major in July is all about live music, dancing and street performers along the promenades in Salou. The amazing new Ferarri Land has just opened at PortAventura theme park too. So if you head there this summer, you’ll be among the first to try out Vertical Accelerator, the fastest and tallest rollercoaster on the continent, which reaches speeds of 180 kilometres per hour in the space of just five seconds. If you want to be right in the heart of the action, pick the Hotel H10 Salou Princess as your base which is close to both the beach and PortAventura theme park.
