How To Spend Your Easter Bank Holiday Weekend

Back to Trends

With Easter fast approaching it’s time to start planning for the extra long weekend. Can’t decide where to go? We’re here to help you pick with our guide to the UK’s best (and most unexpected) getaways now. From pretty Norfolk towns to a Welsh blue lagoon, we’re making a case for the English holiday…

Bristol is becoming the place to visit in the south-west, and there’s plenty of reasons why. It’s home to some of the coolest music venues (think multi-storey super clubs to intimate underground bars) and has a reputable art scene, including the Arnolfini modern art gallery and Spike Island. Keep an eye out for an original Banksy.

West Wales

St David’s in West Wales is the perfect way to celebrate the start of spring. Think green hillsides, steep cliffs and crystal clear waters (and a blue lagoon a short drive away in Abereiddi). Plus, you can catch a daily boat ride around nearby islands to see the region’s dolphins and whales. Who needs the Mediterranean?

If you’re looking for a weekend break near London, Canterbury is your go-to. Jump on an hour-long train to the historical city (it’s been named a miniature Rome by New York magazine) and enjoy a boat ride down the River Stour, 18th century pubs and St Augustine’s Abbey – the anti-tourist answer to Canterbury Cathedral.

Don’t be fooled by the farmer reputation – Norfolk is home to some of the UK’s prettiest villages and seaside towns. Stay in Holt if you’re looking for a cottage that resembles the one from The Holiday or head to Cromer or Wells-next-the-Sea for picturesque beaches and the best fish and chips.

Move over Edinburgh, we’re looking to Glasgow, Scotland’s creative hub, for an inspiring weekend trip. Avoid the city centre and hang out in the West End, the city’s coolest neighbourhood where you’ll find atrium bars and cafes, The Pipe Factory (a key artists’ community) and Ashton Lane, the most instagram-worthy street in all of Glasgow.
